What makes us happy?

Happiness is a way of life. We’re happy when we feel healthy , safe and free. It’s to be found in every-day-things such as nice food,  a warm home and nature. Research also shows that a steady job with a good salary and trust in the government are top 3 factors that contribute to this happy feeling.

10 tips to feel happier

Tip 1: Don’t worry

Worries come from fear or wrong information. Did you know that 90% of your worries don’t even happen? It’s a waste of time & energy. Don’t worry, be happy!

Tip 2: Organize yourself

Set targets and make small actionlists. You’ll feel happier if you know what you want!

Tip 3: Be more active

A healthy mind in a healthy body. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk or take your bike to the bakery. The more you move your body, the more energy you produce and it feels nice afterwards!

Tip 4: Enjoy being with others

Social life is fun and brings happiness.  Even when friends or family members don’t live nearby, make time to see eachother. If you want to meet new people join a club, or community of something you like doing.

Tip 5: Get a job that puts a smile on your face

Do what excites you and leaves you feeling happy when going home after your shift. If it’s making you nervous or sad, take action (change jobs or talk to your superior). It’s never too late!

Tip 6: Laugh and be optimistic

People who are happy laugh a lot. Believe in yourself. Always look at the bright side of things. Even after the darkest night, the sun will rise!

Tip 7: Live now

What was yesterday is gone. Let go of the past because the only thing you can truly change,  is today.  You create your own reality. Make it a beautiful ‘now’. 

Tip 8: Be yourself

Pretending to be someone else or hiding who you are is very exhausting. Just be you, the world will adapt. Know who you are and accept yourself. 

Tip 9: Avoid the negative

Don’t listen to people that complain a lot. Surround yourself with people that are positive. You become like the 5 persons you hang out with most.

Tip 10: Cherish people you love

Nothing brings more happiness than a respectful, loving relationship with your partner. Strong friendships and close family relationships increase happiness. Show how  much you appreciate them.
